2014 Winnipeg, Canada. APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television Network)

Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN) and the World Indigenous Television Broadcasters Network (WITBN) hosted the World Indigenous Television Broadcasting Conference (WITBC) 2014 from June 19 to 23 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.


"WITBC is crucial for the development of Indigenous media, where we share experiences and ideas," said WITBN chairman Nils Johan Heatta. "Canada’s Indigenous Peoples and APTN play a leading role in Indigenous broadcast media. We believe WITBC 2014 will advance our work and international collaboration."


KANATA 14 | WITBC featured workshops, seminars, and speaker presentations on journalism, programming, operations, and digital media, under the theme “Breaking the Barriers.”


Delegates attended a gala dinner announcing the second World Indigenous Journalism Awards (WIJA) and participated in cultural events, including APTN’s Aboriginal Day Live & Celebration at The Forks, Winnipeg, on June 21.
