Nils Johan Heatta, Director of NRK Sápmi aimed to produce and broadcast more Sámi TV programs, believing television would remain the most important platform for the next decade and that increasing TV broadcasting would strengthen and develop Sámi language, culture, and identity. Heatta's vision for WITBN was for members to benefit from participation by meeting public demands for indigenous programming, emphasizing practical collaboration beyond just CEO-level interactions.

At WITBC Sápmi 2012, he hoped for discussions on the differences between indigenous and mainstream journalism, the role of indigenous broadcasters in strengthening languages and cultures, and workshops addressing challenges in WITBN projects like Program Exchange, Indigenous Insight, and the upcoming News Sharing Platform, as well as networking opportunities.
