Hawaikirangi Conference 2024

To strive and foster a sense of community and collaboration among Indigenous content creators by working together to create content that is truly representative of the diverse cultures and communities.

 

The Hawaikirangi conference celebrated the past, present, and future of Indigenous storytelling and content creation. Honouring the trailblazers who paved the way, celebrated the achievements of today and looked forward to the future of Indigenous storytelling and media.

WIBN Taiwan Conference 2025 Event Summary

From 12–19 August 2025, the World Indigenous Broadcasting Network (WIBN) gathered in Taiwan for an unforgettable conference hosted by Taiwan Indigenous Television (TITV).

The week-long event brought together Indigenous storytellers, media professionals and cultural leaders from around the world to exchange ideas, celebrate diversity and strengthen global connections. Attendees shared insights on media innovation and cultural preservation, joined workshops and panels on storytelling and language revitalisation, and experienced powerful cultural performances that highlighted the richness of Taiwan’s Indigenous communities.

This year’s conference reaffirmed WIBN’s mission to honour worldviews, amplify voices and inspire the next generation of Indigenous creators.

Past Conference
Hawaikirangi and Hui Taumata 

Hawaikirangi and Hui Taumata held on the 10-12 March 2024, in Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand, united Indigenous storytellers, content creators, and media professionals from around the world. These events were more than just conferences; they served as platforms for creative minds to connect and inspire one another.

These creative platforms emphasised the significance of Indigenous voices and narratives, creating opportunities for content creators to showcase their work, gain new skills, and explore innovative approaches. The conferences fostered a spirit of community and collaboration, aiming to produce content that genuinely reflects our diverse cultures and communities.
